As soon as Theodore retired to bed, Alaina went out of the room she was escorted earlier by Sonny and tiptoed to Martin's room. There, she found all the clothes that Theodore told her about and they were all hanging next to Martin's very expensive suits of Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Oscar Dela Rentas, Perry Ellis and all the men's designer wear one can think of or imagine. Alaina slipped on one of Martin's white polo dress shirt and walked towards the bed. The same bed she and Martin shared not even a week ago. She remembered their passion and smiled. "How wonderful it was to let go with someone." She thought as she climbed on his bed. She can get lost in that moment again and as she imagined their moments together, a tear trickled down her cheek as the darkness of sleep enveloped her. Alaina dreamed of an absolutely astounding blonde woman talking to her without any sound coming from her beautiful lips. She was trying to read what she was saying but couldn't. The woman held out her hand as she smiled at Alaina and Alaina in return, tried to hold out her hand as the woman seems to fall into an abyss, her smile turning into a cry. And Martin appeared in her dream. He was also doing the same thing the woman was doing, speaking to her without any sound. But Alaina understood what he was saying as she read his lips. "Let go, Alaina, just let go, trust me, you will be fine." He says with his mouth. And all of a sudden, he disappeared and she was in her town home playing with Cody, until there was no longer an image in her dream as she slumbered deeper.
Martin arrived just past midnight at the terrace. He didn't bother to call Theodore as he thanked Eric for the ride and walked up to the doors. He keyed in his security code and was a little surprised that it was dead silent in the manor. He assumed that either Alexa or Nicky, even Theodore will still be up. He exhaled deeply as he trekked up the stairwell to his bedroom. He expected that being back to his home; it would be a welcome change from his trip to Italy but his heart is still heavy from the awkward and awful goodbye with Miranda. Martin opened his bedroom door and walked directly to the bathroom, his mind is still burdened by all the past events, that he did not even see Alaina on his bed. Martin drew his bath. As he looked at the tray full of different gold capped bottles of bath paraphernalia, his hand picked up the one that Alaina had chosen on the night she bathed with him. As the scent filled the bathroom, Martin smiled as he remembered how she had stood up, covered by random foam all over, looking like Venus rising from the foam. "How can one person, so new to my life means so much in such a short period of time?" Martin asked himself silently. He shook his head, almost in dismay, as he felt he was behaving like a lovelorn teenager. He misses her so much, no words can describe it and he wants to immediately correct the situation surrounding the phone call she overheard. As Martin stepped into the bath, he let the warm water calm his thoughts down as he started to doze off, his mind recalling the night Alaina was just within his reach, soapy, fragranced, slippery and willing. As he fell asleep, the same images of Miranda came to him again, dancing, mesmerizing, and so full of life. And just as it was in the flight, the same tears appear on her cheeks, and her running away from him, and again her face turning into Alaina's as she said the same thing, "Do unicorns dream? We won't have forever, Martin." And once more, Martin roused from his sleep, startled. He got out of the bath and put on his robe and decided to go down to the North Wing and fix himself a drink. He won't be getting any sleep until he sees Alaina again. When she gets discharged from the hospital tomorrow, he will see to it that it is him to pick her up, he's decided. Martin walked out of the bathroom, again, missing the still and sleeping form of the woman he wanted so badly to see.
Alaina stirred from her sleep as images came to her, once more. This time, it wasn't as serene as the one with the woman. The images were confusing as she sees her black and white husky in the dream, with her, in the park. Cody and her were playing fetch and then the images switched back to her town home. She hears Cody yelping, and she sees herself in the same corner of the kitchen nook and then she sees James Traynor holding the knife. Alaina tried to scream but no sound came out. She started to trash around the bed, and began to cry. At first, she mumbled "no", and then, as the images in her dream became more vivid, Alaina cried out, "Noooo!" and bolted right up from her sleep. Her eyes tried to adjust to her surroundings and she realized that she was not in peril, as her eyes recognized Martin's bedroom. She was not in her town home, but Martin's manor, she breathed raggedly and tried to calm herself down. And then she cried. She cried for the first time since the paramedics got to her limp and injured body and transported her to the hospital.
As Martin was coming down the stairs, he heard a woman scream. He turned around and rushed right back upstairs as Theodore, ran towards the bottom of the stairs looking up at him. Martin did not understand what Theodore has called out to him, but he was sure the scream came from his bedroom. As he neared the door, Martin didn't hear anything anymore and thought for a moment that, perhaps, the scream he heard was a remnant of his recent interaction with Miranda. He stopped right at the door and tried to listen keenly and there it was; a woman sobbing. He can hear a woman sobbing and he opened the door. It was Alaina! Alaina, her head down on her hands and knees drawn up to her chest, crying and on his bed! Martin walked up to her and as Alaina lifted her face from her hands, she saw a man walking up to her, the light outside just illuminating his presence and she couldn't see his face. "Oh God, no, please!" she cried out, thinking it was a stranger walking towards her. "Alaina, it's me, Martin." Martin said to her, and she got up immediately from the bed and threw herself at him. Martin held her as she sobbed and told him about her dreams and how she thought the figure approaching her in the bed was Traynor. Martin stroked her hair and cheeks and apologized for frightening her. He told her that he should have said something as he walked up to her, but found himself too shocked that she was on his bed and not back in the hospital. After she has calmed down a bit, Martin told her he was able to take a bath, without seeing her and her without rousing from her sleep. He laughed a little at the thought of their near misses. Alaina laughed, too. And at that moment, Martin thought, "There it is; their ability to make matters light and find that momentum to laugh a little." Alaina looked at him with the same excitement in her eyes that visibly changed, as though, she now realizes the reality of Martin being home and away from the woman who called him "honey" and his "daughter" he needed to drop off to school in Denver. "There are things that needs to be said between you and me, Alaina." Martin stated somberly, as he motioned for her to sit down on the bed. "Yes, I believe so." Alaina replied as she sat down next to Martin. And Martin began to tell her everything about Miranda and that fateful morning he called her and she heard what she has heard.
Nicky looked at Hailey as she danced by herself, at first, then another girl and the girl's boyfriend joined Hailey. Alexa called out to Nicky telling him that he needs to rescue his "girl". Alexa thought Hailey was a nice girl upon their meeting and Hailey thought that Nicky's sister was just gorgeous and her "boyfriend" William was a total stud. Their introduction only got awkward when Hailey blurted out that she and Nicky only met the other night. Then she made it doubly awkward by mistaking Alexa and William was a married couple. William underplayed the situation by stating that it was always a pleasure to get mistaken as a married man to someone as beautiful as Alexa. Nicky thought that was a bit heavy, but he understood where William was coming from, and William is certainly not the first man he's witnessed going over the top for his siblings. The dance club was packed full of the young and beautiful Seattleites, but Nicky has eyes for Hailey only and she knows it. Nicky likes her a lot, but it is not something he wishes to entertain as a long term liaison. Hailey's demeanor betrays the distance she tries to keep with Nicky, because she finds herself completely attracted to him. "I am head over heels, already." Hailey murmured to herself as she watched Nicky order some drinks from the bar. Alexa and William seem to hit it off well as Alexa finds him a complete gentleman. William finds Alexa disarming, with her grace and beauty and her complete conviction on any subject matter he has discussed with her, so far. Alaina is gorgeous and friendly, but there is the maturity that Alexa displays that interests William more. "Not to mention, Alaina is completely in awe of Martin Green," William thought to himself as Alexa conveys her concern for her sister. The double date thing is not exactly William's deal, but he found himself thoroughly entertained. It was a welcome break from the two days he only had the suspect for company and Alexa's company was far more enjoyable than any "perp" William has been accustomed to dealing with and having a conversation with. He made up his mind to let the night evolve and take them wherever it may lead. He was enjoying himself and his company is worth the hangover he may encounter the next day as William does not drink.
After Martin has explained the whole situation surrounding Miranda, he looked at Alaina's reaction to everything he has just conveyed to her. She was speechless at first and she wouldn't look him in the eyes. Alaina kept her gaze on her hands folded in her lap as he recounted everything to her. Martin lightly kissed her shoulder and Alaina looked up at him, her eyes both happy and sad, but mostly questioning. "You said goodbye to her when she is not in a position to understand what that would mean in her life?" Alaina finally said. Martin looked astonished as he was here, telling this woman that he has done all he could for the person he once planned on marrying, and she asks if he has done enough for her? Martin felt a lump on his throat. This woman he couldn't wait to see, to hear, to hold, to love has questioned his devotion to another woman whose memory has cut him deeply and has been the true reason why he has never allowed himself to get closer to another human being. He was confused and pained at the question before him. "I have done everything I can for her, and more, short of losing my whole life and happiness to someone who will end up never knowing how much she has been a part of my life." Martin said, heartbroken. He stood up and turned towards the door. "You can have my bedroom for the night, I will sleep in one of the guest rooms." He said as he closed the door behind him.
